Desarrollo y validación de escalas diagramáticas de severidad de ojo de gallo y minador en hojas de cafeto

El objetivo de esta investigación fue desarrollar y validar escalas diagramáticas de severidad para ojo de gallo (Mycena citricolor) y minador (Leucoptera coffeella) del cafeto, asegurando la exactitud y precisión en la evaluación visual de lesiones foliares. Se recolectaron hojas de cafeto en dos parcelas agrícolas con diferentes intensidades de lesión foliar, y la severidad real se determinó digitalmente. Con base en la distribución de frecuencia de los valores de severidad y de acuerdo con la ley de agudeza visual de Webber-Fechner, se establecieron los límites mínimo y máximo, así como los niveles intermedios de cada escala. Diez evaluadores validaron ambas escalas estimando la severidad de 66 hojas con ojo de gallo y 40 con minador, primero sin la escala y luego con ella, con un intervalo de 7 días entre estimaciones. Se verificó la exactitud, la precisión y la reproducibilidad de las estimaciones. El uso de la escala mejoró la exactitud, precisión y reproducibilidad de las estimaciones de la severidad de las lesiones foliares causadas por ojo de gallo y minador, en comparación con las estimaciones realizadas sin la escala. Las escalas permitieron una estimación visual precisa de la severidad de ojo de gallo y minador en hojas de cafeto.
The objective of this research was to develop and validate diagrammatic severity scales for coffee leaf spot (Mycena citricolor) and coffee leaf miner (Leucoptera coffeella), ensuring accuracy and precision in the visual assessment of foliar lesions. Coffee leaves were collected from two agricultural plots with different intensities of foliar lesions, and the actual severity was determined digitally. Based on the frequency distribution of severity values and following Webber-Fechner’s law of visual acuity, the minimum and maximum limits, as well as the intermediate levels of each scale, were established. Ten evaluators validated both scales by estimating the severity of 66 leaves with leaf spot and 40 with leaf miner, first without the scale and then with it, with a 7-day interval between assessments. The accuracy, precision, and reproducibility of the estimates were verified. The use of the scale improved the accuracy, precision, and reproducibility of severity estimates for foliar lesions caused by leaf spot and leaf miner, compared to estimates made without the scale. The scales allowed for an accurate visual estimation of the severity of leaf spot and leaf miner in coffee leaves.
