Riqueza Oculta en el Bosque de Neblina de Unchog, Perú: Diversidad de Flora, Fauna y Belleza Paisajística
Hidden Wealth in the Unchog Cloud Forest, Peru: Diversity of Flora, Fauna and Landscape BeautyContenido principal del artículo
The main objective of the study on the Unchog Cloud Forest was the description of the richness of flora, fauna and scenic beauty. The present study is framed within an applied research with a descriptive and exploratory approach. The study area was geo-referenced, flora and fauna were inventoried and the richness of birds present in the area, endemic flora and landscape richness with the presence of lagoons, identification of tourist routes, and evaluation of the economic feasibility of improvements in tourist services. The results included 47 bird species, including endemic species such as Metalluratheresiae (copper hummingbird) and Butraupisaureodorsalis (golden-rumped tanager). In addition, mammals such as the spectacled bear (Tremarctosornatus) and the weasel (Didelphisalbiventris) were observed, and 86 relevant plant species and 11 endemics were identified, covering families such as Asteraceae, Orchidaceae and Ericaceae. The study also highlighted the landscape value of the forest, identifying 18 lagoons and three tourist viewpoints, and two main entry routes were defined. Economic valuation surveys were conducted, proposing services such as restaurants and rural lodging. In conclusion, it is feasible to enhance the environmental and ecotourism services of the Unchog Cloud Forest.
